ROAD AND SAFETY INFORMATION
LICENCE REQUIREMENTS
A valid, unendorsed drivers licence is required which must be in English.
Minimum age is 25 years, no maximum age.
DRIVING
Always drive on the left hand side of the road.
SEAT BELTS
It is compulsory to wear seat belts at all times.
SPEED LIMITS
· Urban Areas (resdential and town) 60 km/h
· Rural Areas 100 km/h
· Highways 120 km/h
· The recommended speed limit for travelling on gravel roads is 60 km/h
PROCEDURE AT A FOUR WAY STOP
When approaching a four stop, always take note of the following:
. If you are the only vehicle at the stop street, stop, look both sides, then proceed.
. If there is another vehicle already at the stop street, it has the right of way.
. If you stop at the same time as another vehicle, commom courtesy applies and
either vehicle may proceed first.
. Always ensure that your vehicle comes to a complete stop before you proceed.
APPROACHING A TRAFFIC CIRCLE
. Always yield at a traffic circle.
. Yield to vehicles already in the traffic circle and those vehicles entering the circle on
your right.
. Once all vehicles have passed your right hand side, proceed with caution.
. Note that all vehicles already in the circle have right of way.
TOLL ROADS
Toll roads operate on major routes. Charges vary from R5,00 per vehicle to R50,00 per vehicle. Payment can be made either by cash, or by major credit cards.
FUEL IN SOUTH AFRICA
Fuel in South Africa may only be purchased with cash. The fuel price is set at a fixed Government controlled price.
Service at petrol stations is provided by a petrol attendant. Tipping is at your discretion. Ask the attendant to check the oil and water.
SAFETY TIPS
· Always park in a safe designated area.
· Ensure that the doors and boot are locked when the vehicle is left unattended.
· Do not hand the vehicle keys over to anybody apart from a 4 Seasons Car
Rental representative.
· Keep all doors locked whilst driving
· Do not leave valuables in the vehicle.
WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A BREAK-DOWN?

Client is not to replace or repair any vehicle parts unless authorised by 4 Seasons Car Rental.
WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENTS/THEFT?
· Contact 4 Seasons Car Rental immediately.
· A full report must be made at the nearest Police Station within 24 hours where an
accident has occurred and 6 hours in case of theft.
. A case number must be obtained.
